Regulatory Bodies
Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology
The ministry of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology was established in May 2010 in line with the vision of the government of Mauritius to transform Mauritius into a knowledge-based economy. It is responsible for policy, management and regulatory framework to foster the development of quality tertiary education. The strategic goals of the ministry are to widen access, improve quality and relevance, and ensure equity. Internationalize the tertiary education, promote research and innovation and foster science and technologyThe ministry has developed a strategy for tertiary education, and will introduce a legal framework for higher education and for research and innovation. It aims at increasing tertiary education enrolment to 76% by 2022, widening access by increasing and decentralising campuses, introducing new programmes with collaboration and partnership of reputed foreign higher education institutions setting up an IIT in maturities and improving quality assurance mechanisms.

Tertiary Education Commission
The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) is the regulatory body for post-secondary education in Mauritius. TEC has also the responsibility for allocating public funds and fostering, planning and coordinating the development of post-secondary education and training. The TEC also determines the recognition and equivalence of post-secondary qualifications.

Mauritius Qualifications Authority
The Mauritius Qualifications Authority (MQA) is the regulatory body for technical and vocational education. The (MQA) is a corporate body under the aegis of Ministry of Education and Human Resources. It regulates training at technical & vocational level in Mauritius. The MQA has the responsibility to develop, implement and maintain a National Qualifications Framework, register qualifications, ensure compliance with provisions for registration and accreditation of training institutions and to recognize and evaluate qualifications.
